Update on school closures January 4-8 2021

Dear Families of Orde Day Care;
As most of you have heard by now childcare centres will be allowed to continue to operate under the new lockdown measures in Toronto beginning December 26, 2020 with our regular programs- infant through to school age until December 31, 2020.

As of January 4, 2021 all children who attended school will be moved to online learning for one week, till January 8, 2021. The Ministry of Education has mandated that childcare centres can continue to operate our infant, toddler and preschool programs after January 4, 2021 but cannot operate before and after school care to children enrolled in these programs during that week. Fees for these programs will not be charged during the closure period, and any charges upon reopening will be prorated for the month or period of closure. Please see attached.

If you require care for your kindergarten to school age child during this period January 4-8, 2021, the Ministry of Education has provided a list of eligible workers who may apply for this care, which is attached to this email. If you are interested in this care, please email me directly so I can send any information that I receive regarding this care option.

We are unclear at this point if further measures will be imposed by the City of Toronto that will affect the care we are providing for the infant to preschool aged child, but will keep you abreast as we receive any new or changing information.

Along with these announced changes the Ministry of Education has updated their guidance document and requested that we move from the online screening to active, in-person screening as the preferred method to determine if a person may enter a child care premises.
It continues that individuals who do not pass the screening are not permitted to attend the program and must stay home.
The ministry continues to ask that screening criteria is aligned to the provincial tool

Therefore beginning January 4, 2021 we will move back to the in person screening for anyone (children, staff and visitors) entering the childcare. Please adjust your schedules for this in person screening. We also ask that you continue to evaluate the health of your child prior to coming to the daycare, and if there is a symptom associated with COVID-19 present, we ask that your child does not come to daycare, and you contact us to inform us of the symptom/s.

We would like to thank you for your time and understanding as we continue to respond to the requirements and direction of the Province of Ontario and the City of Toronto through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Happy Holidays

Update from Orde Day Care Board of Directors

December 16th, 2020

Dear Families of Orde Day Care

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support of Orde Day Care during this unprecedented time.

We understand that having your child attend care during a pandemic was not an easy decision to make, but please know that our staff continue to take all the prescribed public health measures when providing care for your child

We would like to take this opportunity to clarify a few items:

  • If you decide to withdraw your child from all or part of our care options, one month’s notice is still required, as per our parent contract.

  • If the centre or your child’s program room is closed due to a case of COVID-19, and we cannot provide care, fees will not be charged during this time.

  • If there is a centre or school wide closure, or mandatory lock down due to COVID-19 fees will not be charged during this time. Any fees that were previously charged will be refunded back to your account.

  • If your child is absent due to a COVID-19 or a  COVID-19 related issue, child care fees will continue to be charged if your child room/program continues to operate.

We hope this clarifies any questions or concerns you may have had regarding fee charges and notice of withdrawal during this time.

Thank you

Orde Day Care Board of Directors
