medical emergency

All of our staff have been trained in first aid and take refresher courses as required.  Should an accident occur:

  1. First Aid will be administered as needed.
  2. If the situation is critical, we will call 911 immediately.
  3. A staff will accompany the child in the ambulance.
  4. If the situation is serious but not critical, we will transport your child either by taxi or stroller.
  5. The staff will take the child’s Emergency Contact Sheet which has an Emergency Medical Consent Form signed by the parent or guardian.
  6. The staff will also take the child’s Immunization Information.
  7. The Coordinator or Site Supervisor will contact the parent(s) or emergency contact person and inform them of the situation; that their child is being taken to the hospital for treatment and that they are to meet us there.
  8. Family members will be requested to bring their child’s health card information to the hospital.

The staff member who witnessed the accident will complete and sign an Accident Report Form.  The form will also be signed by the Site Supervisor or Coordinator and the child’s parent/guardian.

If your child did not receive medical attention at the time of the accident, but did receive medical attention later, please inform us as soon as possible.
